All students are required to complete The College at Brockport's General Education Program which incorporates changes mandated by the SUNY Board of Trustees and SUNY System Administration implemented for fall 2011, in addition to Brockport's local requirements and competency examinations as appropriate. They are applicable to all students. For information on how your transfer status impacts your own General Education requirements, refer to the charts below.
Each SUNY institution has identified courses that have been approved by SUNY to fill the SUNY knowledge and skills areas (the "SUNY 10": Mathematics, Basic Communication [both Written and Oral Communication], Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, American History, Western Civilization, Other World Civilizations, Humanities, the Fine Arts, and Foreign Language). Brockport will abide by those decisions since any course at one SUNY college that has been approved by SUNY as meeting a specific General Education requirement meets that requirement at all SUNY institutions. Please check with your SUNY institution for the list of courses that fill these requirements, or go to Reports of Approved Courses, by Campus.
Note: Within the SUNY 10, any course used by an individual student to satisfy the Humanities category may not be used to satisfy any other subject category, and no single course may be used multiple times (called "double-dipping").
If you are currently attending a non-SUNY institution, your transcript(s) will be evaluated for General Education requirements at The College at Brockport upon entry to the College.
