President Halstead

This is a defining moment to be at The College at Brockport, State University of New York. The quality of those who attend our College has never been higher and we are constantly working to enhance our dynamic learning environment and to create new and innovative ways to champion the scholar in each and every student.

The College at Brockport is highly selective and offers a multi-dimensional approach to education. More than 8,300 students pursue a variety of liberal arts and professional programs from among 48 undergraduate, 40 graduate, and 23 teacher certification programs. The College has been called one of the "best colleges" and "best values" in the Northeast according to the latest editions of the Best Colleges in the Northeast and America's Best Value Colleges published by The Princeton Review. We also are ranked in US News & World Report's America's Best Colleges Guide and Kiplinger's 100 Best Values in Public Colleges. In fact, we had a record number of applications for fall 2009—over 12,000.

Our student-to-faculty ratio is 18 to 1 and nearly 75 percent of our classes have 29 or fewer students. Combine that with the knowledge that 93 percent of our full-time tenure or tenure track instructional faculty have earned a PhD or other terminal degree, and you can see why our campus is filled with pride, quality, and enthusiasm.

Within this Accountability section of our Web site you will find detailed information about our students, our classroom environment, campus life, the cost to attend Brockport, and much, much more. Please study and use this sound information. I am confident that when you do, you'll understand why everything at The College at Brockport centers around one concept — our core mission: student success!
