Alisia Chase, PhD, is an associate professor of art history and visual culture at The College at Brockport. Dr. Chase earned her PhD from the University of Minnesota in Art History and Visual Culture. Dr. Chase’s research focuses on women in contemporary art, cinema and comics. Several of her articles have been published in numerous anthologies, including Feminism Reframed: Reflections on Art and Difference and The Great American Makeover; and she regularly writes for Afterimage: Journal of Media Arts and Cultural Criticism. In 2006, she won Outstanding Advisor of the Year, and, in 2009, she received the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. |

Andrea Ciliotta-Rubery, PhD, is an associate professor, whose focus is on political theory, serving in the Department of Political Science and International Studies at The College at Brockport. Dr. Ciliotta-Rubery earned her PhD in Political Theory from Georgetown University and has spent much of her career writing on Machiavelli’s impact on politics and Christianity. Recently, Dr. Ciliotta-Rubery has expanded her scholarly interests to include literature and film, in an attempt to analyze how these mediums reflect various themes in normative political thought. Her most current project, a paper entitled "The Role of Fortune in Emanuele Crialese’s The Golden Door," was just presented at the American Political Science Association’s national meeting in September 2009. |

Luz Cruz, PhD, teaches in the Department of Kinesiology, Sports Studies, and Physical Education at The College at Brockport. She holds her EdD, from the Teacher’s College at Columbia University. Dr. Cruz was one of three professors nominated by the College for the CASE Professor of the Year Award in 2009, received the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2008, and the Outstanding Academic Advising Award in 2005. Cruz has given numerous presentations throughout her career on teacher education, curriculum development, elementary physical education, and teaching culturally diverse learners. She has had numerous articles published, and made significant and extensive contributions to the greater community and professional service organizations for which she received several commendations and recognition awards. This year is a culmination of her outstanding teaching and scholarship, and is the capstone of her career in education. |

Warren "Koz" Kozireski ’82/ ’95, General Manager WBSU, 89.1 The Point, earned both his bachelor’s in broadcasting and master’s in public administration at Brockport. The Point is a student –run radio station that has been under his supervision since 1989. Since then, more than 120 Brockport alumni have entered the field of communication and media after gaining valuable knowledge from Kozireski and practical experience at The Point. Moreover, Kozireski serves as Acting President of College Broadcasters Inc. (CBI) and serves as the Coordinator for the CBI National Student Production Awards. He has worked in several fields in the broadcasting industry, including writing, production, announcing, and promotions. Most recently, Kozireski published Rochester Americans: The First 50 Years in 2008. |

Gary J. Metz, associate professor of health science, and coordinator of The College at Brockport’s Substance Abuse Studies program, has more than 40 years experience in the areas of addiction and substance abuse prevention. He has master’s degrees in education and public administration, and is a nationally credentialed addictions counselor (MAC). Metz has an international reputation for developing programs in the United States and abroad. Metz is the recipient of numerous awards for his work in the field of substance abuse and prevention, as well as narcotics enforcement, including the International Narcotics Enforcement Officers Award of Honor, the Phi Beta Delta International Scholars Medal for Contributions to the International Drug Prevention Community and the State University of New York Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Faculty Service. |

Anne Panning, PhD, professor of English at The College of Brockport, has a Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Bowling Green State University and a PhD in English from the University of Hawaii. Dr. Panning has published several short stories and essays. Her short story collection, Super America, won the 2006 Flannery O’Connor Award for Short Fiction and was well received by The Boston Globe and The New York Times, who selected it as an Editor's Choice. Panning was also awarded the Lillian Fairchild Award by the University of Rochester for producing the best visual, literary, or musical work of art during the past year. Panning recently completed a memoir, Viet*Mom: An American Mother of Two Moves to the Mekong. |

Adam Rich, PhD, Assistant Professor at The College at Brockport, has a PhD in Physiology and Biophysics. He teaches courses primarily in anatomy, physiology, and neurophysiology at Brockport. He has written and successfully renewed a valuable NIH grant which supports his research. Students in the Department of Biological Sciences gain important research experience in Rich’s laboratory while preparing for PhD programs, medical school, and careers in scientific research. The main focus of Rich’s research is on the zebrafish; using it as a model for studying human disease. In 2009, Rich published his research on zebrafish, entitled: A new high-content model system for studies of gastrointestinal transit: the zebrafish. Rich also has worked in cardiac safety drug recovery in the private sector at the major pharmaceutical corporation Bristol Myers Squibb.

James Spiller, PhD, earned his doctorate from the University of Wisconsin. A member of the Department of History at The College at Brockport, Dr. Spiller teaches modern United States history as well as the histories of American culture, environment, science and technology. He was awarded the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2004, as well as research grants from several Presidential Library Foundations. Dr. Spiller has a forthcoming chapter in Modern Science in National and International Context and is completing a book manuscript comparing the cultural politics of US space exploration and Antarctic research during the Cold War. |

Rong Yang, PhD, joined The College at Brockport in 2004 as an assistant professor of accounting, serving in the College’s Department of Business Administration and Economics. Dr. Yang earned her PhD in Accounting from Rutgers University. Yang believes being a good professor involves being a "facilitator of knowledge–being there to stimulate and guide the learning process." Her research interests include the use of accounting information in capital markets, analysts’ forecast performance and CEO compensation. She co–authored a paper that won the 2006 MBAA International McGraw-Hill/Irwin Distinguished Paper Award by the North American Accounting Society. This year, Dr. Yang co-authored an article in the Journal of Marketing entitled "Competing Loyalty Programs: Impact of Market Saturation, Market Share, and Category Expandability." Moreover, Dr. Yang is a distinguished speaker, presenting at both national and international conferences. |
