Brockport Bound: Senior-year Timeline

The most common questions we hear throughout the application process are: What do I need to do? And, when do I need to do it by?

Don't worry. The dates and deadlines below should help you to stay on track throughout the application process. Don't hesitate to contact our office with any questions you may have throughout the admissions process. We're here for you.


Summer Prior to Your Senior Year

Visit Campus

  • Summer is a great time to visit The College at Brockport! Our office offers campus tours and information sessions Monday through Friday throughout the summer.


Register for the SAT or ACT exams, if necessary

  • We require either the SAT or ACT for admission to the College. Even if you have already taken it once, we encourage you to take it again to maximize your chances for both acceptance and merit-based scholarships.

 

 

September

Register for the October, November or December SAT or ACT exams, if necessary

  • We require either the SAT or ACT for admission to the College. Tests are offered throughout the fall, so check the individual websites for exact test dates.


Request letters of recommendation from teachers, counselors, coaches, etc.

  • We require at least one letter of recommendation with your application. Find a person who can speak to your character and help us get to know you better. Keep in mind that some teachers, counselors and coaches may get many requests from other students, so be sure to ask early.


Visit Campus

  • During the school year, we offer campus tours and information sessions Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. If you're considering playing a sport here at Brockport, you should contact the coach prior to your visit to set up a meeting.

 

 

October

Take the SAT or ACT exam, if necessary.

  • Request that your scores be sent to The College at Brockport. If you have yet to register for a test date, register for the upcoming SAT or ACT dates now.


Attend an Open House

  • Even if you have visited campus before, Open Houses offer a lot of useful information. You'll have the opportunity to learn more about the admissions process, financial aid, scholarships, student services, and meet with representatives from the various academic majors.


Submit your Application

  • We operate on rolling admissions and recommend you submit your application in October or early November. Your file will be reviewed for an admissions decision once all of the required items have been received. You can check your application status here.

 

 

November

Attend an Open House

  • The November Open House is open to all interested students and is also our Intercollegiate Athletics Open House. In addition to exploring the campus and learning about our academic programs and facilities, you'll also have the opportunity to meet with our coaches.


Submit your Application

  • If you have not already done so, file your application. We operate on rolling admissions and recommend you submit your application in October or early November. Your file will be reviewed for an admissions decision once all of the required items have been received. You can check your application status here.


Take the SAT or ACT exam, if necessary.

  • Request that your scores be sent to The College at Brockport. If you have yet to register for a test date, register for the upcoming ACT or SAT now.

 

 

December & January

Check your Application Status

  • We recommend checking your application status online often to ensure that there are no outstanding documents delaying the review of your application.
  • If you haven't filed your application yet, do so now. We'll review applications as they become complete. The first round of decision letters will be mailed in the mid-October.


Take the ACT or SAT exams, if necessary.

  • December and/or January is typically the last opportunity to take the ACT and/or SAT in order to be considered for Fall admission.

 

 

February

Physical Therapy Program Deadline

Submit mid-year grades

  • If we requested that mid-year grades be submitted, please have them sent to our office so the admissions process is not delayed. If you haven't heard from us yet, check your application status now.


Submit your deposit

  • Tuition and housing deposits should be submitted once you decide to attend The College at Brockport. Submitting your deposit early will hold your spot in the freshman class and will also enable you to indicate a housing preference, among other things. Deposits are fully refundable until May 1st.
  • Once you've submitted your deposit, visit our Brockport Bound site. This will be your guide to everything you need to know and complete before arriving on campus in the Fall. The site includes useful information about housing, financial aid, scholarships and important deadlines, among other things.


 

March

Explore additional scholarship options

  • There are a number of additional scholarships that students can apply for. You should begin researching them early.

 

File your FAFSA

  • March 15th is the recommended FAFSA filing date for incoming students. You can learn more about financial aid here.

  • Accepted Student Day is a great chance to meet your classmates and get all of your questions answered. We will also offer presentations regarding residential life, dining services, campus life and other important student services.
