The College at Brockport
The State University of New York (SUNY) College at Brockport is a four-year, public college located 16 miles (about 25.7 km) west of the city of Rochester and 45 miles (about 96.5 km) east of Buffalo. The Village of Brockport's population is nearly 8,000, while the population of the Greater Rochester area is over one million. Brockport offers the best of both worlds - a historic, canal-side village combined with easy access to a large city.
Rochester has been judged one of the best cities in the United States for quality of life. It is home to the nationally known Rochester philharmonic orchestra, outstanding museums, an ultramodern planetarium and professional baseball and hockey teams. Rochester is a short flight from New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC, and within easy driving distance of Toronto. The Greater Rochester International Airport is serviced by several major airlines and is a 30 minute taxi ride to campus.

Applying
The application deadline to apply for the spring semester is December 1 and all necessary materials must be received by December 15. For the fall semester, the application deadline is July 1 and all necessary materials must be received by July 15. The following items are required to make an admissions decision on your application to The College at Brockport:
Applicants can apply using the SUNY application OR the Common Application, both are available online. Please only use one of these applications.

If you are using the SUNY application there is a US $40 non-refundable application fee per college that needs to be included either in the form of an international bank draft or money order drawn on a US bank, payable to SUNY ASC. Paper applications need to be submitted to the Application Service Center (see page A4 of the paper application for the mailing address) and not to The College at Brockport.

If you are using the Common application there is a US $40 non-refundable application fee per college that needs to be included in your electronic application.
The remaining items below need to be mailed directly to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at The College at Brockport.
- Official or true certified copies of your secondary school or post-secondary academic records (transcripts, examination scores, mark sheets, etc.) in both English and the original language. They must be mailed directly by the issuing institution to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at The College at Brockport.
- English proficiency required:
SAT recommended, not required - minimum critical reading score of 430English proficiency document may be sufficient.

- An autobiographical essay in English that address reasons for selecting the field of study; special interest and abilities you have; plans for further study; and/or employment after completing your degree and your family background.
- Letters of recommendation are not required, but may be submitted for review.

If the Admissions Committee approves your application, we will contact you via e-mail and send you an acceptance letter along with information on paying your deposit through postal mail. The deadline to submit your deposit is July 1. If you are in need of a student visa (F1) please see the information below. Before classes begin, you will need to submit an official or true certified copies of your diploma, degree, or certification in both English and the original language.
F1 Visa
In order to secure a F1 visa, you will need an I-20 drafted. In order to receive a form I-20, you must submit the following items to our office:
- An original bank statement on bank letterhead, in your name or that of your sponsor, with a date, signature and seal of a bank official showing a current balance of at least US $26,900. Costs for the 2009-2010 academic school year may be found online.

An original letter written, signed, and dated by your sponsor, stating he or she will be responsible for your expenses while attending The College at Brockport. Exact amount of the funding sponsored must be listed.
Financial Aid, Scholarships & Costs
International students do not qualify for US or New York State government aid. The College at Brockport does, however, offer Academic Scholarships to students whom qualify, several of which are renewable.

Scholar in Residence Scholarships for freshman international students
*The SAT minimum requirement is based on the critical reading (verbal) and math scores. The new SAT writing score will not be used as a determining factor for The College at Brockport scholarship eligibility.
Honors and Academics
The College offers bachelors degrees in 48 majors that blend the liberal arts majors with professional studies such as business and computer science.
Unique opportunities are available to high achieving students including our Honors Program and Delta College.
Office of International Student Services
The Office of International Student Services is the primary resource for all enrolled international students at The College at Brockport. The office provides an orientation for newly admitted students, assists with immigration regulations and travel documents, helps international students adjust to academic and cultural expectations in the United States, and provides cross-cultural programming.
Housing
The College at Brockport guarantees housing to all international students and is available to international students throughout the duration of their studies. Each room is wired for high speed Internet access and cable television.
