Ellsworth Express

As you begin to make plans to attend the overnight stay in Brockport as an accepted student to The College at Brockport, here are some frequently asked questions that will help you finalize your decision: 

What is Ellsworth Express?

Ellsworth Express is the name for our accepted student overnight bus trip from the NYC/Long Island and surrounding areas. This trip will give students the unique opportunity to stay overnight on campus and get a sneak peek of college life at Brockport. This trip will allow you to make the decision of whether or not The College at Brockport is the right choice for you. Like most of our students who have participated in this overnight stay, we know you are going to make The College at Brockport your home away from home and join the ranks with our current students as they aspire, engage and excel.


How long is the trip?

It will take approximately 6.5 – 7 hours. See Directions to Brockport.


Where will the bus depart?

The bus will be departing from the vicinity of the New York Public Library (Manhattan) on 5th Avenue between 41st and 42nd Street. Please meet the Brockport Admissions rep between the two lion statues. We will leave New York City on Friday, April 11 at 8 a.m. sharp and will arrive in Brockport at approximately 2:30 p.m. 


Do I have to register for this trip?

Yes, please register if you have not done so as yet. Please note that a deposit of $25 (check or money order), made payable to SUNY College at Brockport is also required and must be mailed along with your registration


Can I bring a movie to watch during the trip?

Yes, the bus is equipped with a DVD player, so you can bring your favorite movie. (Please note – we will select movies based on general consensus).


Is there a bathroom on the bus?

Yes, the bus is equipped with a bathroom.


Will the bus make any stops?

Yes, the bus will make at least one stop to and from Brockport.


Will lunch be provided on the trip?

No, you will have to bring money to purchase meals/snacks on the trip. However, you will be provided a boxed lunch prior to your departure from The College at Brockport. We suggest that you bring a minimum of $40 to purchase items on your trip to and from Brockport. You will also have the opportunity to visit the Brockport Bookstore. You may also choose to bring your tuition/housing deposit in the event that you decide that Brockport is the college for you.


What about meals once I arrive at The College at Brockport?

Meals will be provided at no cost to you during your stay in Brockport. Please visit www.basc1.com for more in depth information about our dining facilities on campus. 


Where will I be staying on campus?

This year, students on the bus trip will be staying on campus. It will be convenient as we have a number of different activities planned for you.  


What activities will we participate in while on campus?

You will be involved in a variety of activities, such as, a student panel, bowling, ice cream social, Caribbean Student Association (CSA)-dance-a-thon and much more!


Will we be taken on a tour of the campus?

Yes, you will be taken on a tour of the campus and will see areas such as the residence halls, library, student union, athletic facility, fitness center and more. For more information, visit www.brockport.edu


Can a friend or family member ride the bus with me?

Unfortunately, no, the bus trip is only for students that have been admitted to The College at Brockport.


If I know someone on campus can I stay with them instead of in my assigned room on campus?

No. All students on the bus trip are required to stay together in their assigned residence on campus. However, if you know someone on campus they are more than welcome to join the group at any time throughout the course of your stay on campus. 


Can I bring a camera with me to take pictures?

You most certainly can bring a camera with you. You may bring additional electronic devices such as an ipod, ipad, or laptop. Please be aware that it will be your responsibility to ensure the safe storage of your belongings as the College will not be liable for the loss or damage of these items.

 

Please bear in mind:

  • Although you have been accepted to The College at Brockport, you will be GUESTS on our campus, April 11-12, 2014.
  • As our guests you will participate with the group in a set schedule and you DO NOT have the same freedom as our current students. 
  • This trip is to give you an opportunity to see what our campus has to offer and to determine if Brockport is the right fit for you.
