Alumni Spotlight

Chad Boehly '96

What you are doing now: Founder and President of the Staffing Authority - a recruiting firm based in Rochester, NY, specializing in IT and engineering since 2002.

Majors: Double major in mathematics and economics

Favorite class at Brockport: Arabic Culture and the West with Professor John Maier, PhD

Favorite professor at Brockport: John D. Chasse, PhD

Most memorable Brockport moment: Tutoring for the Student Support Services Program (SSSP) under the guidance of Academic Coordinator John Curry.

Most interesting life experience: Making the first cut for the US Skeleton Team. This consisted of a series of track and field tests in the summer of 2002. I was invited to compete against other hopefuls on Lake Placid's combined bobsled/luge/skeleton track in January 2003. Sliding down the track headfirst at speeds of 40-50 mph and 3+ Gs in the corners - with my chin just a couple of inches off of the ice - was an experience I will always remember.

Last book read: Denma's translation of The Art of War - by Sun Tzu. This 2,300-year-old collection of writings from Chinese military leaders encourages our response to conflict to start from knowledge of ourselves and our opponent.

CD most likely to find in your stereo: Anything by Andrea Bocelli

Favorite movie: The Gladiator

Favorite vacation spot: Venturing to Lake Placid, NY several times each year. For me, the Adirondacks have become synonymous with athletic exercise. The plentiful opportunities to participate in mountain bike races, triathlons, distance running events, hiking, and skiing keep me going back.

What you want to be doing next year: Maintaining the Staffing Authority's objective of helping client companies grow by providing superior talent.

What you want to be doing in 20 years: Continuing to direct the operation of the Staffing Authority.

Message to the students of today: Keep up to date on current events and learn of society's needs. Then search within yourself for a solution you can enact, no matter how big or small. This is the path to self-actualization.
