Alumni Spotlight

Hyeyeon (Holly) Cicconi-Eggleston '03

Class Year: 2003

What you are doing now: My employer is Bausch & Lomb. I work in Corporate Human Resources with a focus on compliance, employee relations and diversity.

Major: Business administration with a concentration in management

Favorite class(es) at Brockport: I enjoyed most classes but there were classes I wasn’t really interested in, such as accounting, economics and statistics.  I didn’t understand then how these classes would relate to HR.  I know now that the skills I learned in those classes were just as important as the HR classes!  So thank you for drilling into me that assets plus liabilities must equal shareholder’s equity, how to calculate ROIs, and making me understand standard deviations!

Favorite professor at Brockport: My top three in no particular order: Dr. John Keiser, Professor David Hoffberg, Dr. Melissa Waite

Most memorable Brockport moment: I attended Brockport as an adult student eager to complete my degree.  One of my most memorable moments was during the honors graduation ceremony when I received the Prometheus Award from my honors thesis director – Dr. John Keiser – in front of my parents and best friend.

Most interesting life experience: I like to think that every day is interesting in some way.

Most famous person I have met: I met Matt Hamill from The Ultimate Fighter and The Ultimate Fighting Championship.

CD most likely to find in your stereo: I listen to a wide variety of music – whatever is on the playlist works.  You won’t find heavy metal or country, though.

Favorite movie: Some of my favorites are Pretty Woman, Pretty in Pink, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Braveheart, Gladiator and 300.

Favorite vacation spot: So far, the Caribbean, but I hope to make it to Europe one day soon.

Family: My husband, Jason, and I have been married for almost 12 years. We have a dog, Mutley, who is 6 ½ years old.

What do you want to be doing in 20 years: In 20 years, my only hope is to be able to look back and know that I have given full effort into my career and personal aspirations.

Message to the students of today: Live without regrets.  Don’t stay in a job or with a company that doesn’t make you happy – life is too short for that!
