Timothy Dodge '83
Tim Dodge, ’83, has worked in the banking, insurance and Internet industries. Most of his career has been spent as an insurance underwriter, trainer, and researcher/public relations manager. He has also been a candidate for local public office. He is the author of three as-yet unpublished novels and several freelance articles on insurance topics. He released his novel Acts of Desperation as a free serialized podcast in 2009. Tim lives in Liverpool, New York with his wife and three children. His web site is www.timdodgestories.com.
What you are doing now: I am member industry technical support and public relations manager for a trade association that represents independent insurance agents. I am also releasing a novel as a free serialized podcast, editing another novel, and doing freelance technical writing on the side.

Most memorable Brockport moment: Running for BSG vice-president - didn’t win, unfortunately!
Most interesting life experience: Changing careers after 14 years in the same industry. I eventually went back to the first one, but the change in perspective was enlightening.
Most famous person you have met: Hillary Clinton

Favorite vacation spot: Disney World
Family: Wife Maria; Sons Joel, 20, Evan, 17 and Nathan, 13
What you want to be doing next year: Still in the same job but also promoting a published novel.
What you want to be doing in 20 years: Working part-time and writing full-time.
Message to the students of today: Learn how to write clearly. Take advantage of the educational and intern opportunities at Brockport. Build up your network. Hold on to the friendships you’re making in college.
