Thomas J. Gosdeck '73
What you are doing now: I am a partner in Hill & Gosdeck, a law firm that represents a large number of publicly traded corporations and trade associations in matters before the state legislature and regulatory agencies.
Major: Political Science
Favorite class at Brockport: A graduate seminar in interest group politics that I was invited to join as a senior.
Favorite professor at Brockport: Steve Ullman
Most memorable Brockport moment: Harold Rakov breaking down state government to its simplest components and comparing it to the automobile assembly line. After almost thirty years of watching state government, I remain even more awed at the appropriateness of his analogy.
Most interesting life experience: A trip to Australia, New Zealand and Fiji where we stayed with friends in the countries and enjoyed their culture as “locals”.
Most famous person you have met: The first President Bush
Last book read: The Bancroft Strategy by Robert Ludlum
CD most likely to find in your stereo: The Cream of Clapton
Favorite Movie: The Godfather Parts I and II
Favorite vacation spot: We traveled the world and now look forward to quiet time at our home in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Family: Wife Cathy and our much traveled cat, Mulligan.
What you want to be doing next year: Lobbying, golfing and reading at least fifty books.
What you want to be doing in 20 years: With luck, golfing better than I do today and actively involved in grass roots politics at the local level.
Message to the students of today: Dream as large as you dare. Brockport will give you the tools to reach any goal, all it takes is the courage to challenge yourself to use them to the fullest.
