Daniel Zachofsky '74
What you are doing now: I am currently teaching elementary physical education in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where I have taught for 32 years. I also conduct programs for the handicapped population and am an adjunct professor at Florida Atlantic University. I've also found the time to write three books!
Major: Adapted Physical Education
Favorite class at Brockport: My disabilities class.
Favorite professor at Brockport: Dr. Joseph Winnick
Most memorable Brockport moment: Completing my thesis dissertation and seeing the benefits of my study in 1974. In 1987, I returned to visit the university with my family, and while visiting the library my then six-year old daughter wanted to leave the library with my thesis.
Most interesting life experience: Continuing to work with the special populations and train the athletes for Special Olympics games, and see the satisfaction they experience in competing.
Most famous person you have met: President Gerald Ford
Last book read: Miracle Over Miami
CD most likely to find in your stereo: Anything by ABBA
Favorite Movie: It’s A Wonderful Life
Favorite vacation spot: Vail, Colorado
Family: I have a wife and 24 year old daughter. My daughter recently graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Master’s degree in Taxation.
What you want to be doing next year: Continue teaching and conducting talks on the books I’ve written.
What you want to be doing in 20 years: Skiing and enjoying my life traveling with my wife and family.
Message to the students of today: Perseverance and hard work is the road for being successful and accomplished.
