2012-2013 BAA Board

Cathy Appleby Catherine Appleby '75/'83/'01 is the former Principal Mail and Supply Clerk for all mailing services at SUNY Brockport. She served previously on the Alumni Board back in the 1980s and 1990s and chaired numerous committees. Currently, Cathy serves as chair of the Liaison Committee. She has also been serving on the Archives Committee and most recently added serving on the Scholarship Committee. Cathy and her husband, Art '73, have two children and live in Brockport.
Photo Not Available Marisa Ballaro '07 was a double major in dance and arts for children. She is currently a resident of New York City where she works as a freelance dancer and dance teacher. Currently, Marisa works a as teaching artist with LeAp, Creative Music Programs, and BallaroDance, and she is performing with Amiti Perry/AEMP Dance. She is a member of NDEO, Dance/USA and is on the Youth Advisory Committee for Dance/NYC. Marisa is already busy planning Brockport alumni events in the NYC metro areas.
 Mary Lou Beagan '84 is program coordinator for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at the University of Rochester Medical Center. She was elected to the Board in 2002 and serves on the Reunion/Homecoming Committee and Alumni House Committee. While earning her undergraduate degree, she was active in student government, was films chairperson on the Programming Board, and a tour guide for the College. She currently resides in Rochester.
Photo Not Available Kimberly Becker '08 is a Communications Associate at the American Red Cross in Rochester. She has been an active graduate participating in several young alumni networking events.She also does volunteer work withUnited Way's Day of Caring, FoodLink, American Heart Association Heart Walk, Relay for Life, and the Children Awaiting Parents Toast to Spring Event. Kim was a Marketing major while at Brockport. She also was President of the Marketing Club and a Resident Assistant for 2 years. Kim currently lives in Rochester, NY.
Jon Bell Jon Bell '67/'69 earned his BS and MS in Education. He was a teacher/administrator in the West Irondequoit, Jon was employed in the Department of Education and Human Development at the College for ten years retiring as lecture emeritus in 2008. Jon and his wife of 47 years Nancy reside in Brockport and have two children and four grandchildren.
Nick Cantazaro Nick Catanzaro '06 is currently the Director of Federal Relations at The Washington Center. He earned his master's degree from Stony Brook University, specializing in Public Policy, after getting his bachelor's in both Political Science and Criminal Justice from Brockport. At Brockport he was involved in multiple state and national campaigns, political organizations and Student Government. Nick also interned and worked for a Member of Parliament in London, England, as well as assisted the Labour Party and Prime Minister Tony Blair during Blair's 2005 re-election campaign.  Nick currently resides in DC.
 Joan Fenton Joan Fenton '79 taught at all levels of the public school system, spending the bulk of her career as a reading specialist. She went on to serve multiple terms on the Brockport Central Board of Education upon retirement. She is active in many service related roles in the Brockport community and very involved with the campus community through the Richard J. and Joan S. Fenton Scholarship. She graduated with a MA and resides in Brockport with her husband Richard.
Photo Not Available Becky Gillette '03 is a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones Investments and is based out of the Brockport branch. She is active in numerous community projects in the area. She was a business administration and economics major at the College.  Becky currently resides in Brockport.
Al Hammel Allyn Hammel '86 was a police lieutenant in Gates, is currently a town of Clarkson Justice, and has been involved in service projects in the Brockport area for decades. Allyn dedicates his time to the Brockport Fire Department and the Lions Club. He has a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the College.  Allyn currently resides in Clarkson, NY.
Photo Not Available David Harris '90 earned his BS in Business Administration in 1990. Currently David works as Marketing Director for Fisher Price. He resides in Orchard Park with his wife Heather and three children.
Glenn Johnson Glenn Johnson '85 is the chief meteorologist at 13WHAM television in Rochester. He has been an active graduate who has worked with our Admissions Office and assisted with "forecasts" before the Fall Classic Golf Tournaments. Glenn is a former board member for the Rochester Foundation for Persons with Brain Injury and is currently President of the board for Partners in Community Development.  Glenn is a member of the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society, and he was awarded their Seal of Approval for television weathercasting. In 2005 Glenn was awarded the SUNY Brockport award for Community Service.  Glenn and his wife Eileen live in Fairport with their two sons.
Lauren Kelly Lauren Kelly '03 is associate director of conferences and special events at RIT.   While at Brockport, she was an English Literature and Communication Studies Major who served as Brockport Student Government Vice President from 2002-2003, in addition to being a member of Theta Phi Alpha Sorority and Sigma tau Delta English Honor Society. Lauren is a member of the Campus Liaison and Alumni House Committees, and currently resides in Rochester.
 Warren Kozireski '82/'95 is a two time Brockport alumnus (1982-Communication, 1995-Public Administration) and has been employed by the College since 1989 as General Manager of WBSU and as an Instructor of Communication. He is an active free-lance sports writer for Suburban News, Western New York Hockey Magazine and InsideCollegeHockey.com and President and Student Production Awards Coordinator of College Broadcasters, Inc. (CBI). Koz currently serves as president of the Board of Directors.  He and his wife of 22 years, Heidi (Master of Liberal Studies-2002), reside in Spencerport, NY.
 Elaine Leshnower '61/'98 is a retired director of human resources and has been an Alumni Association board member for more than 25 years. She participates in election campaigns for candidates for public office. Elaine is very active in the Alpha Alpha Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International and is on the board of Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue. She currently is vice president of the Alumni Association, chair of the Recognition Committee, a member of the Women's Center Advisory Board, a member of the Board of Ambassadors for the School of Education and Human Services, and a member of the Athletic Hall of Fame Selection Committee. She is a past president, vice president, treasurer and secretary of the Alumni Association. She lives in Brighton with her Yorkshire Terriers, Abbey Mia, Harper and Piper and has an adult daughter, Jennifer.
Photo Not Available Michael Mellace '96 has been active on the Alumni Association Board since his graduation. He served as treasurer for several years before moving to California. He continues his involvement serving on the Finance Committee and assisting with alumni programs in the San Diego area. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Mama Mellace's Old World Treats. He and his wife, Rebecca, live in San Marcos, CA.
Don Murray Donald Murray '69, better known as Coach Murray, is associate professor of physical education and sport at Brockport and coach of Brockport's very successful wrestling team. He has coached the team to five NCAA Division III championships during the course of his 40-year career. He has been on the alumni board for more than 20 years, serves as President of the BASC Board of Directors, and is on the Nominations Committee. He resides in Brockport.
 Betty Jane Nasca '52 is the current secretary of the Brockport Alumni Association, serving on the Board of Directors, Executive Council, Alumni House Committee, Campus Liaison Committee and is chair of the Scholarship Committee. She has also co-chaired the Alumni House Afghan project and served on the Stella Bassett Room Committee at the Alumni House. She started teaching at the campus school of SUNY Brockport in 1955, retiring to raise her family in 1971. In 1979, she returned to teach Junior High Mathematics for Brockport Central School District for seventeen years. Betty currently resides in Clarkson, New York.
Carl O'Connor Carl O'Connor '07/'09 has been a member of the Brockport community since 2003. He received his undergraduate degree in history education in 2007 and completed his master's in adolescent history education in May of 2009. Carl currently serves on the Alumni House Committee and is the treasurer for the Association. Carl currently works on campus in the Office of Residential Life as the Assistant Director for Systems Administration. Carl resides in Brockport.
 Karen Owen '87/'91 has been on the alumni board since 1998. She tutors junior and senior high school students in math and other subjects. She spends some of her time volunteering at the George Eastman House Motion Picture Department and the Library book store at the Central Library. She is a Civil War enthusiast and resides in Brockport.
Roshelle Pavlin Roshelle Pavlin '85/'95 is no stranger to the Alumni Board of Directors. In years past she has served as Board Secretary and Chair of the Scholarship committee. Roshelle graduated with a major in earth science and a Master's in education, resides in Prosser, WA, and currently serves as Human Resources Department Manager at Dade Moeller & Associates. Roshelle also serves as Co-Director of Diversity Initiatives on the Washington Society for Human Resource Management State Council and as the Chair of the Promotion committee for the Historic Downtown Prosser Association.
Monique Rew Monique Rew-Bigelow '09/'10 currently works in The Office of Residential Life/Learning Communities at The College at Brockport as the Coordinator of Living Learning Communities. As an undergraduate, Monique participated in the Washington Semester Program where she completed an Internship in The Office of Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi. Monique earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, International Studies and History in 2009. Monique earned a Master of Public Administration in 2010.
 Harriet Sisson '85 has been on the Board since 1998. She is co-chairperson of the Archives committee and is on the Scholarship Committee. She is a past recipient of the Robert Griswold History Award and an Alumni Appreciation Award. She lives in Brockport with her husband Ralph, and has three adult sons.
Gary Skoog Gary Skoog '68 majored in Economics and minored in History during his days as a student at Brockport. He is also recently retired from over 20 years as an independent contractor. For fifteen years he worked on the staff at the College at Brockport, and five years in financial services management.  Since graduation, Gary, his wife Lori, and children have made Brockport home.
Dan Stinebiser Daniel Stinebiser '76 is a retired teacher from the LeRoy School District. A former board member with the Friends of Brockport Athletics, Dan was an assistant football coach at Brockport in the 1980s and has been a volunteer in the sports information office for nearly ten years. Dan serves on the Executive Council, Alumni House and Campus Liaison Committees. He and he wife, Lorna, live in Brockport and they have two grown sons.
 Gary Sullivan '80 is an investigator for the City of Rochester Police Department where he received a Life Saving Award in 1989 and the Officer of the Month award in both 1988 and 1997. He has been an active volunteer for Camp Good Days since 1985. He has been on the Board since 1999, and serves on the Scholarship Committee. He, his wife, Darlene, and their three children live in Brockport.
Photo Not Available Dennis Thompson '77 is a Senior Systems engineer, Senior Trainer with Northrup Grumman Information Systems out of San Diego, CA. He has hosted several alumni events at his home in San Diego and will coordinate other west coast events as a member of the board. He was a mathematics major at Brockport.
 Charles "Chuck" Wade '06 earned his BS in Communication/ Business in 2006. He is currently employed by Brighton Securities and lives in Batavia.
 Photo Not Available Nicholas Wockasen '05 earned his BS in Criminal Justice/Sociology in 2005. He is currently working on his masters in communication; Nick has been employed by The College at Brockport since 2007. He currently works as an Undergraduate Admissions Advisor and resides in Greece, NY.
