Harvey Dorfman: 1957/1961
Dorfman, a world famous sports psychologist, has written four books on the mental aspects of the sport of baseball. Aligned closely with super agent Scott Boras, Dorfman spent 27 years as a teacher and counselor before embarking on his new career 20 years ago. He started his sports psychology career with the Oakland A's in 1984 and stayed for 10 years before he was hired by the Florida Marlins in 1994. He was with the Marlins when they won the 1997 World Series. Dorfman has four World Series rings (three with Oakland). His latest book, "Coaching the Mental Game," is dedicated to his Brockport soccer coach, A. Huntley Parker Jr., who passed away in February. Dorfman was a member of Brockport's 1955 soccer team which shared the National Championship with Penn State. He holds a bachelor's degree in English and a master's in education from Brockport.
