Bringing It HomeBrockport native, Thomas Honeck, returns to his alma mater SUNY Brockport to present his New York City MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets) award-winning shows “Going On Faith…” & “Dreaming Wide Awake.” The two shows will be combined into a one-time only special event on the Tower Main Stage on Sunday September 28, 2008 at 3:00 pm under the title “BRINGING IT HOME.” The afternoon will include storytelling and anecdotes punctuated by hit songs from the worlds of pop and Broadway. Thomas will take his audience on a journey from his idyllic hometown, to the mythic city of New York, to the mystical realms discovered with his Shamanic teachers. “Going on Faith” and “Dreaming Wide Awake” have been performed at the world-famous Duplex Cabaret Theatre and have raised over $12,000 for the Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund. The proceeds from this event will benefit the Friars Club Scholarship Fund. Thomas graduated from Brockport State in 1985 with a degree in theatre and was the first-ever recipient of the school’s Friars Club Scholarship. He brings with him fellow SUNY Brockport alum and Friar’s Club recipient, Lisa Moss to direct. The two are joined by the musical mastery of Ray Fellman on piano. “Mr. Honeck entertained, charmed and inspired…” “An intelligent and enlightening performance…” “This show set the record straight: at all of the above, Thomas Honeck was top-drawer.” It’s an uplifting performance that will leave you looking at the world from a slightly different perspective.
