1960s

Thomas Slocum '67 retired May 31, 2008, after working 40 years for SUNY, the past 32 were with SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry as Director of Career and Counseling Services. Tom also worked at Plattsburgh and New Paltz from 1968 through 1977, all "a wonderful ride."  He is now keeping busy with golf, woodworking, gardening, fishing, and summers at his cottage on 7th Lake in Inlet, NY.  Tom also enjoys spending time with his family, including three grandsons.

1970s

Bob Dobberstein '72 and Lynda Lansing Dobberstein '74, upon Bob's retirement from teaching at Fairport, in 2006, devised the idea of starting a Bed & Breakfast.  On June 4th, the Abner Adams House B & B (Bloomfield, NY) celebrated its fourth anniversary.  The business has grown considerably each year and both love their new career.  Visit www.abneradamshouse.com.

Jerry Winterton '73 has been selected as the NCWA National Coach of the Year.  Winterton is an accomplished coach with 36 years of coaching experience, and a career record of 608 wins and multiple state titles along with 48 individual state champions. 

Debbie Unterman '75 has released her book, Talking to My Selves: Learning to Love the Voices in Your Head. It's a self-help/psychology book based on a system of therapy called Alchemical Hypnotherapy, which she has been practicing and teaching since 1983.

Paul DeCotis '78 is now the vice president of power markets for the Long Island Power Authority.  Paul was the top energy adviser for NYS Governor David Paterson.  He will begin his new position at the end of June.

Helen Domske '78 participated in the "Connecting Channels" conference, whose sponsors include the Great Lakes Program, Canadian-American Studies Committee, Baldy Center for Law and Social Policy and Canadian Embassy.

Gary Moore '78 has been given the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service. Gary is a member of the Alfred State staff for Athletics.  The award recognizes a member of the professional staff who has provided outstanding service to Alfred State College and demonstrates excellence in professional activities beyond the job description.

1980s

Stan Van Gundy '81 coached the Orlando Magic to the National basketball Association (NBA) finals.  It was the team's second appearance in The Finals and Stan's first as a head coach.

Mario Gallucci '87 is an attorney with Helbock, Nappa, and Gallucci LLP. He has recently had a few criminal cases which have been featured on CNBC, ABC's Primetime, the Today Show on NBC, and CNN news.

1990s

Harry Marino '91 has joined the team at Southeast Anesthesiology Consultants.  Marino is the new administrator for Southeast Pain Care.  He has more than 18 years of healthcare management experience.  He served as the administrator and CEO of Carolina Bone & Joint before going to Southeast.

Sonja Livingston '93 will have her first creative novel, Ghostbread, published by University of Georgia Press in October. The novel is a memoir of her experiences growing up in different areas of Western New York. The novel is currently available for preorder on Amazon.

Esco Buff '94 will serve as one of the official farriers at the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.  The games will be held at the Kentucky Horse Park, September 25 – October 10.  Buff is an Official Certified Farrier of the American Farrier's Association.  The games have never been held outside of Europe.

Jeff Myers '96 has begun his term as President of the New York State Recreation and Park Society.  His term in office will run from June 1, 2009 through May 31, 2010.  NYSRPS is the principal organization promoting quality recreation and park opportunities for citizens of New York State through education, training, technical assistance and support of local, county, state and federal recreation and park providers.

Jason Wentworth '97 has won two awards for the production of two radio commercials.  Jason is a morning radio show host for KCOW radio station in Nebraska.

2000s

Sueann Wells '06 announces the publication of an "awesome" volume of motherhood-themed essays, poetry, and photography contributed by two dozen local mothers and grandmothers.  Sueann has freelance edited for the past few years, but took it to the next level by editing this well-crafted and well-balanced collection of prose and poetry.  Mother Muse: A collection of poetry and prose celebrating the joys and challenges of motherhood, is now available on lulu.com (http://www.lulu.com/content/paperback-book/mother-muse/6278039) and amazon.com, and at a few small bookstores in the Rochester area.  On Saturday, August 8, Sueann will be signing copies of this collection at LiftBridge Bookstore in Brockport (time TBA).

Colleen Fritz '08 has started as a sales assistant with West Herr Nissan in Orchard Park.

Lisa Dennison Knapp '03 and husband, Michael, announce the birth of their daughter, Kara Elizabeth, born on May 21, 2009.

Laurie Schifla Warner '01 and husband, Michael, announce the birth of their daughter, Kinsey Lee, born February 19, 2009.

Simon Jacobson '80 and wife, Jennifer, announce the birth of their son, Zevi, on April 16, 2009.  He joins his two-year-old sister, Sabrina.  His oldest son, Julius, is teaching high school in Osan, S. Korea.
