Nick Verzella ’50 was inducted into the New York State Veterans Hall of Fame on June 14th.

Jeanette D’Agostino Banker ’53 was the 2011 recipient of the Frederica Hollister Professional Educator’s Award.  This award is to recognize a member who exemplifies the best in education, has considerable visibility, and has made a most significant impact on education in New York State.

John Harten ’57 is presently the President of the Kiwanis International Foundation and has been helping raise money worldwide for this organization that helps areas that are struck by tragedy.

1970s

Debra Ames ’73/’92 received the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Librarianship on May 5th.

Nelson Cupello ’75 was inducted into the Frontier Field Walk of Fame at the Press-Radio Club dinner on May 24th.

1980s

Bolgen Vargas ’85 has been selected as the Interim Superintendent for the Rochester School District.

1990s

Jeffrey Petrus ’91/’96 was recently recognized with the Outstanding Service Award from the Western New York Association of School Business Officials for his work as the Assistant Superintendent of Business and Support Services at the Orchard Park Central School District.

David Belcher ‘94 has been promoted to the position of Senior Underwriting Consultant at HealthNow New York, the parent company of BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York in Buffalo.

Joseph Waala ’96 was selected as the in-house legal counsel with PPL Corporation, a utility company out of Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Scott Martzloff ’98 was appointed as the new superintendent of Williamsville Central School District.


2000s

Sean McCabe ’04 was appointed as the new principal of Spencerport High School effective July 1st.

Benjamin Rudd ’04 has been selected as the new principal at Park Road Elementary School in Pittsford, NY.

Sarah Pearlman ’05 has been hired by the insurance company, The Producers Group, as their new Graphic Designer and Marketing Coordinator.

Edward and Kristin Tommasi ’05 were featured on a new show on the TLC television network, "House vs. Spouse," on May 11th.

Alex Hinckley ’09 received 3rd place for the Best Public Affairs category in the Louisiana Associated Press awards, and 2nd place in Best Sports Story.

Brady Miles ’09 was inducted into the Wellsville High School Athletic Hall of Fame for his accomplishments in both soccer and baseball.

Sarah Parton ’10 has been hired as a community relations assistant at Meals on Wheels of Syracuse New York Inc.

Marriages

John Swanstrom ’92 and Colleen McGwin ’91 tied the knot on February 24, 2011 in Cork, Ireland.
