Dr. Patrick Damore '52 has announced his retirement from his position as the first and only commissioner of the NCAA Decision III athletic league after 33 years in that position.

1960s

Don Bartalo '64 had his first book, Closing the Teaching Gap: Coaching for Instructional Leaders, released by CORWIN Publishers.

Dr. Diana Suskind '68 will be honored on the Wall of Fame at her high school (Nottingham High 1964). She also received the Distinguished Alumni Award, class of 1966 in Humanities, from Onondaga Community College.

Dr. Donald Staffo '68 received the highest national award in his profession at the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance National Convention in Boston for his work as a professor and chairman emeritus of the Department of Health and Physical Education at Stillman College.

1980s

Michael Giardino '84 has been appointed director of aviation at the Greater Rochester International Airport.

1990s

Elizabeth Peters '90 was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Western New York School Counselor's Consortium at their annual professional conference in February.

Jennifer Loughridge Balonek '92 & '03 joined the consulting firm, McArdle Ramerman Center, as manager of operation and client experience.

Meaghan McDermott '98 is now a reporter for Rochester's Democrat and Chronicle newspaper.

2000s

Melissa Jewell-Blanar '04 was promoted to Director for Orleans County's Office for the Aging.

Andrew Wincenciak '08 was named 355th Logistics Readiness Squadron's Airman of the Year for 2011, beating out 350 other Airmen.

Michael Thayer '09 was recently hired as an 8th grade teacher for social studies and participation in government at the L.A. Webber Middle-High School in Lyndonville, NY.

2010s

Heather Saffer '10, owner of the cupcake shop Dollop in Penfield, was featured on Food Network's "Cupcake Wars" on February 19 and won the $10,000 prize for the monster truck themed challenge.

Andrew Wincenciak '08 married Stephanie Steele of Los Angeles, CA on March 2, 2012.

Births

Karen Ogden Olmstead '92 and Frank Olmstead welcomed their third son, Dillon Michael Olmstead, on January 31, 2012.
