Brockport Football Alumni Organization
Your "Brockport Football Alumni Organization" welcomes you to Homecoming 2009
- Be a part of the first ever "Alumni Football Bracket" at the Brockport Country Club Homecoming Golf Tournament on Friday, September 25th. Organize a foursome of your Brockport football alumni buddies and take part in a friendly scramble "bragging rights"competition at Brockport Country Club. Noon tee time.
- Part and parcel of the golf tournament package is a dinner immediately following the golf tournament (approx. 7 pm) at Brockport Country Club, as well as a cash-bar reception following the dinner (approx. 8 pm) for all Brockport Football Alumni.
- Don't play golf? No problem. You can elect to join your football alumni buddies just for dinner at 7 pm and the 8 pm cash-bar reception immediately following, or just the reception at 8 pm (your choice).
- Game day (Saturday, Sept. 26th) festivities will have us checking in at the Alumni Tent for pre-game. The game starts at 1pm. Seating for the group as a whole will be available in the stadium. Just prior to halftime we'll gather in front of the Alumni Tent again where we'll then proceed to the 50-yard line for introductions like we did in 2008.

Dear Golden Eagle football alumnus:
Greetings from the Steering Committee of the newly formed Brockport Football Alumni Organization.

The Organization
Our common bond is that all 1,178 of us have had the privilege of playing varsity football at The College at Brockport at some point since its inception in 1947. It is a proud heritage that continues under the stellar leadership of Coach Rocco Salomone. For example, did you know that Brockport football has now taken its place among the elite programs of NCAA Division III with such accomplishments as:
- NCAA Division III playoffs four consecutive years, 2000-2003
- Lambert Cup Champions, 2002
- ECAC Team of the year, 2002
- ACFC Conference Champions, 2005
- ECAC Playoffs, 1993 & 2008
- ECAC Northwest Champions, 2008
- Only undefeated regular season in school history, 2000 (8-0)
- Five Post Season Appearances since 2000
- Rocco Salomone: East Region Coach of the Year, 2002
- Forty-two All-Americans (7 first team) since 1995
- Most successful stretch in school history with an 88-55-1 record since 1995
- Cumulative 27 wins and only 14 loses vs. Cortland, Fisher and Buffalo State since ’95
- Every Senior Class since 1992 has graduated with a .500 winning percentage or better
Your College at Brockport Football Alumni Organization is committed to assuring that this tradition continues by enlisting the support of all of our 1,178 football alumni in the quest to elevate Golden Eagle football to where it is the “best of the best” in NCAA Division III.
Get Involved
To successfully compete with Cortland, Rowan and other Division III powers requires that Coach Salomone and his staff have the best both on and off the field. Our fund raising goal for calendar year 2009 is to generate a modest $50,000 on behalf of the football program. If just 500 of us commit to a minimum of a $100 donation each, we will easily reach our goal.

It is never too early to give. The easy and secure way to make your gift is the “on-line” approach. In the “designated for” box, click on the “restricted” option and then put “football program” in the “comment” box and you are finished.
Via U.S. mail, simply send a check made payable to “The Fund for Brockport” and note “football program” in the “memo” portion. Mail to:
Brockport Alumni Association
The College at Brockport
350 New Campus Drive
Brockport, NY 14420
Be assured that all funds derived from this annual effort go directly to The College at Brockport football program to augment the current budget and purchase much needed items that will give our current Golden Eagle coaches and players the opportunity to successfully recruit and participate at the highest level.

We trust that you will agree with your Steering Committee that our experience at the College at Brockport, which included varsity football, was pivotal in terms of getting us to where we are today. Now is the time to give back in appreciation of that privilege that we all were afforded by our professional preparation at Brockport.
Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available. For example, we look forward to your participation at the annual football golf outing on July 18th at Brockport Country Club. More information will be coming on that event in the spring. Please note that the golf outing is “our” event and does not directly benefit the football program the way that your donated dollars will.
Also, please mark your calendar for Friday and Saturday, September 25th and 26th, when we all will gather at the 2009 homecoming celebration. Plans call for an alumni football division in the Friday golf tournament, a football alumni reception Friday night and the game festivities on Saturday.
In the meantime please forward your e-mail address to Mike Andriatch at mandriat@brockport.edu so we can contain our mailing costs.
Your support of this effort by making a gift in the very near future is greatly appreciated. If you would like to assist us in the next phase of this project (contacting players from your era who did not reply to this mailing), please let one of us know and we will gladly accept your assistance.
Go Golden Eagles!
Respectfully,
Your steering committee:

Letter from current coach Rocco Salomone
Dear Brockport Football Alumni and Friends:
I am so pleased to see the interest and support in Brockport football from those who played varsity football at the College at Brockport at some point since its inception in 1948.
Your generosity via this project is greatly appreciated by all of our current student-athletes and coaches.
We hope you will continue to stay in touch and come back to campus for future games, especially at Homecoming 2009.
Warmly,
Coach Rocco Salomone ’88
- The team wrapped up a busy spring which consisted of weight workouts, running and conditioning as well as four weeks of spring practice drills. The weather was great and the players were able to make some strong gains and improvement. We are going to have a very competitive QB competition in pre-season practice.
- Recruiting has gone very well. We cannot talk about individual athletes, but we had a very strong QB, OL, and defensive skill position group.
- We are looking forward to the installation of a state of the art video scoreboard for the football stadium thanks to the Bob Boozer fundraising effort several years ago.
- Thanks to the new football alumni organization, we have been able to purchase a scissors lift for videotaping practices and games from a great vantage point. We have been renting one for years. This new one will be ours to use exclusively and will pay for itself in about three years.
- We are in the process of filling out the coaching staff and replacing Jeremy Lynch, our defensive backs coach for the last five seasons and a former All-American here. Mike Kemp will move to defensive backs and a the new coach will coach the linebackers as well as coordinate all of our video needs. We hope to have him on staff by the middle of June.
- The annual Football alumni and freinds golf tourney is coming up on July 18th. A mailing has gone out; all of the information also is on the football website.
- We open trainning camp on Sunday, August 16th. Please feel free to stop out and watch practice if you are in town.
