Marguerite Hare "Peg" Browne '44
So many people know and love Peg. Her energy and enthusiasm for her alma mater are unmatched. Her stories about the College, from her undergraduate years in the 1940s to the present, are priceless. When the decision was made to add numerous giving society levels in the establishment of this dinner, it was without question that Brockport would add one for a woman who has defined philanthropy at the College. In addition to her own giving, she has been involved in the establishment of nearly half of the endowed funds that exist in our foundation. From its early days in the 1970s, the Brockport Foundation has benefited greatly through working with Peg and the network of people who call her a friend and colleague to conduct its business. She began the emeriti relations program for the College. She honored retired and deceased faculty, staff and community leaders by working tirelessly to originate scholarships. Peg’s educational awards program between the College and the Greece Central School District is legendary and is a night of celebration that everyone needs to attend at least once. For many years, Peg Browne was philanthropy at the College. We honor her for all she has done and continues to do for her alma mater.
