Eugene '53 & Mary Orbaker
Dr. Eugene Orbaker has always been a standout, whether it was in the classroom as a student, on the soccer field as an All-American, in the classroom as a professor, or on the road evaluating student teachers. He may have officially retired from his role as a professor in Physical Education and Sport 12 years ago, but he is still an active part of the Department today, traveling the state to advise the students in our largest major as they prepare to graduate and become teachers and coaches. Gene and his wife Mary’s generosity have resulted in the establishment of a scholarship in Physical Education and Sport, as well as annual awards for the women’s and men’s soccer team. His connection to those sports also was invaluable in raising the funds to name the soccer field for his former coach, Huntley Parker. For all he has done and continues to do for his alma mater, we welcome Eugene Orbaker and his wife, Mary, into the Marguerite Hare Browne Society.
