Battle Staff Ride (Fall '02)

Freedom Trail, Boston, MA

The Battle Staff Ride is a tradition that takes leaders to a site of a battle to give them historical reference of what occurred when the battle was taking place. In ROTC this is used to demonstrate the lessons that are taught in the classroom in reality. Most military officers have not personally experienced battle, so the staff ride is one of the primary tools being used within the Army to give leaders insight into the physical, emotional and intellectual challenges typical of combat situations. This staff ride was to the site of the first battle for American Independence at Concord and a trip down Freedom's Trail, ending at the site of the USS Constitution.
