The studio art major (BA/BS) provides a well-rounded art experience, encompassing two-dimensional and three-dimensional media, art-history courses, and a concentration in one area. Studio art majors in the BA and BS programs must earn a minimum of 36 credits, including at least 27 in studio art and nine in art history. Students select an area of concentration in painting, photography, printmaking, drawing, ceramics, or sculpture. The BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) is intended for students who plan to pursue a professional career in art or to prepare for specialized graduate study. This degree requires 81 credits in art, art history, and approved electives in related disciplines. Students in the BFA program, admitted by required portfolio review, must have at least one course in each of the major studio areas and also participate in semester reviews with the entire art faculty. A 21-credit concentration is also required along with the BFA Senior Exhibition.
