Arts for Childern

The program strives to improve student literacy through the arts. In December, SUNY Brockport students Christina Hill (left) and Michael Ciarmiello helped document responses to the V.I.T.A.L. Family Event at George Eastman House as children, families and educators from the three schools participated in a range of arts activities. This semester, Arts for Children students are assisting in a research project investigating how children select and manipulate elements of arts and language to represent themselves. Using indicators developed by U.N.I.Q.U.E., Brockport students will record youngsters' performances in classes, assess art work and develop participatory lessons for first and second graders.
