We begin our second year of electronic newsletters which are designed to keep our alumni, colleagues and friends informed of the goings-on at Brockport. Last year we sent schoolwide e-newsletters and a department-specific e-newsletter for each of our departments or programs including art, arts for children, communication, dance, physical education and sport, theatre and visual studies. Our 13,000 newsletters sent last year received some very nice feedback (and welcomed updates!) from many of you. If you are in the area and would like to attend one of our fine arts events this year, why not take advantage of our 2-for-1 offer for e-newsletter subscribers? We'd love to have you as our guest. But whether you are near or far, we hope you enjoy receiving the e-newsletters and we invite you to drop us a note and let us know how you are doing. |

The Department of Communication welcomed Rochester-area emeriti professors back to campus last spring, recognizing their years of service to our department and our students. It was an opportunity to catch up as well as introduce the emeriti to new faculty members. Dr. Peter Kane and his wife, Marguerite Coniff-Kane, have recently established a scholarship for a promising graduate student in our masters' program. This year's recipient, Jeffrey Delbert, plans to pursue his interest in political communication at the doctoral level when he graduates from Brockport. |

| from E.E. Cummings Collection at SUNY Brockport |
Most of us know that E.E. Cummings was one of the most significant poets of 20th Century America. What you may not know is that Cummings also was a prolific artist and referred to himself as a "poet and painter." SUNY Brockport owns a collection of 72 pieces of original art by this famous poet. The Hildegarde Lasell Watson Collection came to Brockport in 1978 when Rochesterian James Sibley Watson, Jr. donated the collection to the college in memory of his late wife. |
