Nicole Gibaud Named Female Athlete of the Week September 7, 2009

Nicole Gibaud (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) is this week’s female athlete of the week after leading The College at Brockport Women’s Soccer team to a 2-1-0 start to the 2009 season.
Brockport opened the season with a 3-0 loss to Rochester before bouncing back to earn two shutout wins. The senior scored three times against D’Youville in the first 50 minutes of the game en route to a 7-0 victory. Gibaud opened the scoring in the 23rd minute on a header and converted two shots in the span of a minute early in the second half. It is the first since 2003 that a Brockport player has scored three times in a game.
Gibaud started the play that led to the game winning goal in the 1-0 win over St. John Fisher. Gibaud took the ball deep into the left corner and crossed it to Jess Bush who kicked it out to the top of the box where the ball was deflected to Abby Smith. Smith one touched the ball over the Cardinal goalkeeper for the 1-0 lead.
The midfielder leads the team with six points on the season.
