Baseball Plays Long Ball Again in Win over Keuka

 James Joy throws five shutout innings to earn second win(credit: Jerry Harris) Senior Todd Allen (Oriskany, NY/Oriskany) and juniors Mark Caruana (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) and Joe Zaccardo (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) each connected on home runs to lead The College at Brockport Baseball team to a 13-2 victory over Keuka College Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference matchup in Keuka.
Brockport (17-16) moved above the .500 mark for the first time since the first game of the season with its sixth win in the last seven games and the 13th in the past 16 contests. The Golden Eagles also extended their consecutive games streak with at least one home run to seven. Brockport hitters have connected on 17 home runs in the last seven games. The team also scored in double digits for the 13th time this season with the 13 runs Tuesday.
The Golden Eagles jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning and led 9-0 after four innings. Keuka (5-19) scored in the bottom of the fifth but Brockport added two runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth for the 13-1 lead. The Storm scored a run in the bottom of the eighth for the final margin of victory.
Allen finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three runs batted in while Jim Gaudet (Albany, NY/CBA) was 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Max Zimmerman (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville North) was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored. Jason Michaels (Geneva, NY/Geneva) scored two runs and Zaccardo knocked in two runs for the bulk of the Brockport offense.
Brockport had eight extra base hits and 14 total hits on the day with two doubles, three triples and the three home runs.
