Sophomore Max Zimmerman (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville North) singled up the middle to drive home fellow sophomore Jim Gaudet (Albany, NY/CBA) for the game-tying run and The College at Brockport Baseball team scored the winning run the following inning when Gaudet was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded for a 4-3 victory over Ithaca College Sunday in a non-conference game at the Clark V. Whited Complex in Brockport.

The Brockport (19-18) fell behind early when Ithaca (24-7), ranked No. 12 in the latest American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) national poll, scored twice in the first inning.

The Golden Eagles tied the game in the bottom of the fourth with an errant throw on a sacrifice bunt attempt and another run on a wild pitch to tie the game at 2-2. Ithaca regained the lead in the top of the sixth before Brockport scored a run in the seventh to tie the game and took the 4-3 lead on the bases-loaded hit by pitch.

Jordan Allen (Sackets Harbor, NY/Sackets Harbor) earned the win in relief and Mark Caruana (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) came on in the ninth to retire the final two batters for his second save of the season.

Zimmerman was 2-for-4 and Kris Gentzke (Clarence, NY/Clarence) had the only other hit for the Golden Eagles, who were able to take advantage of six Ithaca errors, three walks and four hit batsmen for the win.
