Brockport (21-21) scored three runs in the top of the first inning to take an early lead. Meola singled home Jason Michaels (Geneva, NY/Geneva) who had walked to open the game for the first run. After Max Zimmerman (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville North) walked and both Zimmerman and Meola stole bases, Kris Gentzke (Clarence, NY/Clarence) hit a sacrifice fly for a 2-0 Brockport lead and then Jamie Rose (Hornell, NY/Hornell) singled to score Zimmerman from second.
Cortland (29-11) scored a run in each of the first two innings before Brockport added a fourth run in the top of the third. Meola doubled to start the third and Todd Allen (Oriskany, NY/Oriskany) singled down the right field line to bring home Meola.
Cortland trimmed the lead to 4-3 with another single run in the bottom of the third and scored two more in the fourth to take the lead for good at 5-4. The Red Dragons extended the lead to 8-4 with three runs in the sixth inning. In the seventh, Meola doubled to left-center and scored when Allen singled up the middle.
Allen and Rose each finished with two hits and Allen added two runs batted in for Brockport. Steve Locke (Oxford, NY/Oxford) started for the Golden Eagles and went three strong innings, allowing just three hits. Jordon Allen (Sackets Harbor, NY/Sackets Harbor) and Kyle Harris (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) each worked relief innings before senior Jason Shannon (North Syracuse, NY/Liverpool) finished the game with two scoreless innings.
Shannon joined Meola and Michaels on the All-Tournament team.
