Gildemeyer and Pickard Share Athlete of the Year Honors

Senior Amanda Pickard (Depew, NY/Lancaster) and junior Lauren Gildemeyer (Baldwinsville, NY/CW Baker) have been voted The College at Brockport 2008-09 Co-Outstanding Female Athletes of the Year as voted on by the coaching and athletic administrative staff at the college. The award was presented at the annual Student-Athlete Celebration Saturday, May 10.

Pickard was selected as a National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-American and was additionally chosen to play in the annual senior all-star game where she was selected as a captain of the North squad. The senior midfielder broke nearly all of the school records for offense at Brockport. She ended her career as the all-time leader in points (78) and assists (24) as well as the school record holder for goals in a season (16), assists in a season (8) and points in a season (39).

Gildemeyer led the Brockport Gymnastics team to a second consecutive runner-up finish at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) National Championship meet. The junior all-around specialist achieved All-American status for her finish in the vault at the National Championship meet and also won the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) floor exercise and vaulting titles at the Regional Championship meet.
