Freshman Taryn Rossi (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) scored her first collegiate goal with less than five minutes left in the first half to give The College at Brockport Field Hockey team a 1-0 lead, but Worcester State tied the score in the second half and scored in the first four minutes of overtime to post a 2-1 win over the Golden Eagles Saturday in the first round of the Springfield College Invitational Tournament in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Brockport (0-1) will play Western New England College, who lost 8-0 to Springfield, in the consolation game of the tournament at 1 pm Sunday afternoon.

Rossi converted a centering pass from junior Kaileen Balzano (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) in the first half but Worcester State used an 11-1 shots advantage in the second half to eventually tie the score before the end of regulation and then scored 3:34 into the first overtime session for the victory.

Freshman goalie Kasey Schreiner (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) made 12 saves for Brockport.
