Senior Allyson Granish (Binghamton, NY/Harpursville) scored on the final penalty stroke attempt for The College at Brockport Field Hockey team to give the Golden Eagles a 1-0 victory over SUNY Morrisville Friday afternoon in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game in Morrisville.

The teams played to a 0-0 tie through 70 minutes of regulation play and two 15-minute overtime periods before using penalty strokes to determine a winner. Brockport (2-6 overall, 1-2 SUNYAC) scored on its third attempt as senior Jessica James (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) tied the score at 1-1 after Morrisville (3-6, 0-2) scored on its second stroke.

The score remained 1-1 until Brockport’s fifth attempt when Granish scored for the game-deciding stroke. Officially, Brockport is awarded a 1-0 victory.

Freshman Kasey Schreiner (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg), who was credited with her first career shutout, made nine saves in the 100 minutes of regulation and overtime play. The penalty strokes do not count in the official statistics of the game.
