Freshman Kasey Schreiner (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) recorded 22 saves and surrendered just one goal as The College at Brockport Field Hockey team dropped a close 1-0 decision to SUNY Cortland Saturday in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game in Brockport.

The Red Dragons (11-0 overall, 4-0 SUNYAC), ranked #5 in the latest national poll, scored 18 minutes into the game as Sam George dribbled past two defenders to the right side of the cage and fired a shot past Schreiner from five yards out.

Brockport (2-9, 1-4) had a chance to tie the game with 16 minutes left in the second half as the Golden Eagles were awarded a penalty stroke. Allyson Granish (Binghamton, NY/Harpursville) fired a shot to the right side of the cage but Cortland goalie Ashley Hughes made a sliding save to preserve the shutout.

Cortland held a 36-8 advantage in shots and took 24 penalty corners to Brockport’s seven. Schreiner registered 10 saves in the opening half and added 12 more in the second half for her 22-save effort for the Golden Eagles.
