Freshman Taryn Rossi (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) scored the only goal of the game for The College at Brockport Field Hockey team as the Golden Eagles dropped a 4-1 decision to Utica College Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference matchup in Utica.

Brockport (2-10) fell behind 1-0 in the first half as Utica (7-3) scored the first of four goals 10 minutes into the game. The Pioneers held a 12-0 shots advantage in the first 35 minutes of action.

In the second half, Utica extended the lead to 4-0 with three goals in a span of 15 minutes.

Rossi scored with four minutes remaining in the second half to prevent the shutout loss as she took a pass from fellow freshman Meaghan Milbranda (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) and knocked it past the Utica goalie.

For the game, Utica held a 22-2 advantage in shots and a 13-2 advantage in penalty corners. Freshman Kasey Schreiner (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) played the first 57 minutes in the Brockport cage and registered 10 saves. Jen Allen (North Tonawanda, NY/Wilson) finished the game and made four saves.
