Garet Lynch named Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year
Senior Garet Lynch (Valley Stream, NY/Springfield Gardens) was voted The College at Brockport 2008-09 Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year as voted on by the coaching and athletic administrative staff at the college. The award was presented at the annual Student-Athlete Celebration Saturday, May 10.

Lynch led the Brockport football team to a 7-4 overall record which culminated in a 70-68 victory over Hartwick College in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Northwest Bowl game. In the championship game, Lynch established several school records including seven touchdowns scored in a game and 429 yards gained in a single game. The 429 yards is the third highest rushing output for any running back at the NCAA Division I, II or III level in NCAA history. His 370 yards rushing in the first half broke an NCAA Division III record for the most yards in a single half.

For the season, the All-Region selection, established new school records for scoring in a game, season and career with 42 points in a game, 158 points in a season and 224 points in a career. He also set the school records for rushing yards in a season as well as touchdowns scored in a game, season and career.
