Senior quarterback Jake Graci (Farnham, NY/Lake Shore) threw for 263 yards and completed touchdown passes to four different wide receivers to lead The College at Brockport Football team to a 59-28 victory over SUNY Morrisville Saturday in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Bob Boozer Field at Special Olympics Stadium in Brockport.

Brockport (3-5 overall, 2-5 NJAC) snapped a five-game losing streak with the victory and did so in dominating fashion as the Golden Eagles jumped out to a 17-0 first quarter lead and led 52-7 late in the third quarter before Morrisville (1-8, 1-7) scored late touchdowns to narrow the gap.

Graci moved into third place on the all-time Brockport list for passing yards in a season and is just shy of 2,000 passing yards with 1,961 with games remaining on the schedule. Senior wide receiver Felipe Diaz (Syracuse, NY/Onondaga) had five catches and one touchdown, which moved him into fourth place on the season receptions list and remains third on the all-time career receptions list at Brockport. He has 51 catches this season and 119 catches for 1,374 yards in his career.

Senior running back Aaron Zurn (Sidney, NY/Sidney) carried the ball in from five yards out on Brockport’s first possession to give the Golden Eagles the early 7-0 lead with five minutes elapsed in the first quarter.

Graci engineered an eight-play drive on Brockport’s second possession of the game and capped it with a strike to Diaz for a 20-yard scoring play to push the lead to 14-0. On Brockport’s third drive of the game, the Morrisville defense held the Golden Eagle offense inside the 10-yard line but freshman kicker Emilio Genzano (Albany, NY/Guilderland) punched in a 22-yard field goal for the 17-0 advantage.

Early in the second quarter, Morrisville put it its first points on the board as quarterback Jamison Crast scrambled for nine yards into the end zone to trim the lead to 17-7.

It was all Brockport after that as the Golden Eagles rattled off 35 straight points, with 14 in the second quarter to push the lead to 31-7 at the half, and added another 21 in the third quarter as the Golden Eagles held a 52-7 lead after three quarters of play. Both second quarter touchdowns were passing plays as Graci connected with Hector Rosas (Angola, NY/Lake Shore) for a three-yard scoring play and then hooked up with sophomore Tamere Shannon (Buffalo, NY/McKinley) on an 18-yard play. Zurn opened the third quarter with his second touchdown of the day with a 20-yard scamper before Graci completed a five-yard scoring pass to Matt Newman (Unadilla, NY/Unatego). Junior Riedrick Alceus (Haverstraw, NY/North Rockland) scored from 19-yards out near the end of the third quarter for the 52-7 lead.

The Mustangs cut the lead with a pair of Crast to Kyle Gordon completions – one for six yards and another for 27 yards – to make it a 52-21 game with eight minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Alceus scored on a 24-yard run with less than six minutes to play and Morrisville tacked on another touchdown pass in the closing minutes for the final score.

Graci finished 16-for-28 passing for 263 yards and four touchdowns with Diaz, Newman, Shannon and Rosas all catching balls in the end zone. Zurn led the ground attack with 90 yards on 19 carries and two scores while sophomore Andrew McCormick (Peru, NY/Peru) added 71 yards and Alceus finished with 59 yards and two TDs.

Junior Nathan Bull (Brockport, NY/Brockport) led the defense with 10 tackles and an interception with two tackles coming behind the line of scrimmage. Genzano was perfect for the Golden Eagles, going 8-for-8 on extra point kicks and 1-for-1 on field goal attempts.
