Sophomore National Champion wins with a unanimous vote
Lauren Gildemeyer wins RACA At-Large Athlete of the Year award
Sophomore Lauren Gildemeyer (Baldwinsville, NY/CW Baker) was named the 2008 Rochester Area College Athletics (RACA) Women’s At-Large Athlete of the Year as announced by the association June 4. RACA honors the top athlete in each sport sponsored by the Rochester area colleges and universities each year. The at-large award combines the sports that a majority of the area college do not sponsor a sport and includes the sports of gymnastics, equestrian, crew, ice hockey and synchronized swimming.
Gildemeyer was a unanimous choice for the award after winning the National Championship in the floor exercise at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) National Championship competition.
