Gymnastics Team Downs MIT and Rhode Island
Golden Eagles lose to Southern Connecticut in four-team meet February 7, 2009
 Carrie Rock was third on the balance beam for Brockport(credit: James Dusen) Freshman Kaitlin Dewey (Saratoga, NY/Saratoga Springs) captured second place in the vault, balance beam and all-around competition to lead The College at Brockport Gymnastics team to a pair of victories over NCAA Division II competition with wins over Rhode Island College and MIT Saturday afternoon at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, Connecticut. Host Southern Connecticut captured first place in the four-team competition.
Southern Connecticut scored a 185.950 while Brockport earned a score of 184.550, MIT scored a 175.000 and Rhode Island College posted a 169.250. Brockport is currently the top-ranked gymnastics team in the nation at the Division III level.
Dewey scored a 9.45 on the vault, a 9.625 on the balance beam and totaled a 37.625 in the all-around to finish second in all three events. Lauren Gildemeyer (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) was third in the vault with a 9.40 and took second in the floor exercise with a 9.675. Dewey was third on the floor with a 9.625.
Christina Baggetta (Latham, NY/Shaker) took third on the uneven bars with a 9.425 and Carrie Rock (Chambersburg, PA/North Hagerstown) was third on the balance beam with a 9.575.
