Gymnastics Records Best Score of the Season
Golden Eagles down Cortland 187.6 – 181.55 on senior day in Brockport February 21, 2009
 Lauren Gildemeyer leads Brockport to season-best score(credit: Michael Pratt, MLPhoto) Seniors Stacy Johnson (Mechanicsville, MD/St. Mary’s) and Nikki Visnick (Natick, MA/Natick) finished second and third respectively on the balance beam with scores of 9.50 and 9.45 to lead The College at Brockport Gymnastics team to a convincing 187.6-181.55 victory over SUNY Cortland in the final regular-season home meet for the Golden Eagles Saturday at Tuttle North Gym in Brockport.
Brockport (8-5) recorded its best team score of the season with the 187.600 total score. The score is tied for the sixth-best in school history and also equaled the second-highest regular-season score ever.
Johnson and Visnick were part of a Brockport score on the beam that was the best effort of the year and the second-best in the program's storied history. The Golden Eagles registered a 47.325 score on the beam as all five top scores were at least a 9.4. The only higher score posted by a Golden Eagle squad was in 2004 when Brockport scored a 47.375 at the ECAC Championships.
Junior Carrie Rock (Chambersburg, PA/North Hagerstown) led Brockport with a career-best 9.55 on the beam. Junior Lauren Gildemeyer (Baldwinsville, NY/CW Baker) placed first in the other three events and recorded a career-best all-around score of 38.50. The all-around score is the second-highest in school history. Gildemeyer won the vault with a 9.725, took first on the floor with a 9.8 and tied for first with a career-high score on the uneven bars with a 9.575.
Stephanie Baker (Akron, NY/Akron) had a 9.3 on the vault, a 9.35 on the bars and a 9.55 on the floor while Christina Baggetta (Latham, NY/Shaker) had a 9.15 on the bars, a 9.25 on the beam and a 9.4 on the floor for the Golden Eagles.
