Junior Lauren Gildemeyer (Baldwinsville, NY/CW Baker) recorded her career-best score in the floor exercise with a 9.9 to lead The College at Brockport Gymnastics team to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship for the third time in the last four years. Brockport scored a 189.15, which is its second-highest team score in school history. Only a 189.35 at the 2004 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championship meet was a higher team score than Brockport achieved Saturday at the ECAC Championships at Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pennsylvania.

The Golden Eagles won the team title while Ithaca College finished second with 187.950, SUNY Cortland was third (184.125) and MIT was fourth (183.900) in the eight-team competition.

Brockport set school records in both the vault and the balance beam with a 47.925 team score in vaulting and a 47.525 score on the beam. The Golden Eagles advance as a team to the NCGA National Championship meet March 20-21 at Hamline College in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Gildemeyer won the floor exercise and also took top honors in vaulting with a 9.75. Her all-around score of 37.65 was third overall. Freshman Kaitlin Dewey (Saratoga, NY/Saratoga Springs) took fourth in the all-around with a 37.550.

Brockport had five of the top 11 scores in both the balance beam and on the floor. Gildemeyer was third overall on the beam with a 9.60 while senior Nikki Visnick (Natick, MA/Natick) finished fifth with a 9.55 followed by teammate and fellow senior Stacy Johnson (Mechanicsville, MD/St. Mary’s) with a 9.50 and Carrie Rock (Chambersburg, PA/North Hagerstown) who finished in a tie for seventh at 9.475. Christina Baggetta (Latham, NY/Shaker) finished in a tie for 11th position with a 9.4.

On the floor, Gildemeyer won the event with her 9.9 while Dewey was tied for second with a 9.725 and Stephanie Baker (Akron, NY/Akron) was fourth with a 9.575. Brittany Burr (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) was seventh with a 9.5 and Rock was 10th with a 9.425.

Johnson (9.5), Baker (9.25) and Baggetta (9.15) all finished in the top 11 in the uneven bars while Gildemeyer, Dewey (9.625) and Baker (9.575) finished among the top-10 in the final vault results.
