RACA honors the top athlete in each sport sponsored by the Rochester area colleges and universities each year. The at-large award combines the sports that a majority of the area college do not sponsor a sport and includes the sports of gymnastics, equestrian, crew, ice hockey and synchronized swimming.
Gildemeyer was a unanimous choice for the award after winning the National Championship in the floor exercise at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) National Championship competition. The sophomore also earned All-America honors in the All-Around and Vaulting events as she led the Golden Eagles to a second place finish as a team at the National Championship meet.
Gildemeyer recorded some of the best scores in school history in 2007-08 with two of the top-10 All-Around scores in school history, two of the top-4 vault scores and four of the top-8 floor exercise routines ever at Brockport.
