Melissa Scorse Finishes 13th at Track & Field Championships (03/13/2010)
Melissa Scorse takes 13th at the NCAA Championships
Junior finishes fifth in her heat
Junior Melissa Scorse (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Mendon) competed in the fastest of the three heats of the 55-meter dash and finished fifth in the heat and 13th overall at the NCAA Division III National Championship Meet Friday afternoon at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana.
All four of the finishers ahead of Scorse advanced on to the finals in the 55-meter dash with the junior missing the finals cut by just .60 seconds. The top finisher in each of the three heats and the next top five sprinters all advanced to the eight-person final.
The time was an improvement over her 7.29-seconds finish at last year’s championship event when she finished 11th overall.
