Sophomore Amanda Elias (Belmont, NY/Genesee Valley) set a new school record in the 500-meter run and senior Steve Reiss (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) broke his own school record in the 300 meters to pace The College at Brockport Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track & Field teams in the season-opening Cornell Open meet Saturday afternoon in Ithaca, NY.

Reiss ran a 36.44-second time in the 300 meters to set the new school record while Elias placed 6th in the 500 with a school-record time of 1:19.76.

Sophomore Ray Lund (Thiells, NY/North Rockland) produced a throw of 16.82 meters in the weight throw to qualify provisionally for the NCAA Division III Championships while senior Shannon O’Keeffe (Boston, NY/Springville-Griffith) opened the season with an 11.31-meter jump in the triple jump to also earn her a provisional spot at NCAAs.

Bridget Mayne (Schoharie, NY/Schoharie) finished third in both the weight throw and the shot put with a measured distance of 14.43 meters in the weight throw and an 11.08-meter heave in the shot put.
