Track & Field Teams Finish Fourth at Colgate University
Dom Gonzalez qualifies provisionally for the NCAA Championships
February 1, 2009
Senior Dom Gonzalez (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) finished in first place in the weight throw with an NCAA Championships provisional-qualifying throw of 16.64 meters Saturday at the Class of 1932 Invitational at Colgate University in Hamilton, NY. Gonzalez led a group of four Golden Eagles who finished in the top six in that event.

The Brockport men finished fourth as a team with 46 points while Colgate University won the meet with 76 points, followed by SUNY Cortland with 68, Binghamton University at 48 and then Brockport in the 18-team meet. The Brockport women also finished fourth with Colgate winning the meet with 105 points followed by Binghamton University (79), University of Rochester (70) and Brockport (46 points). Both teams finished second among NCAA Division III schools.

In the weight throw, Gonzalez took first place with teammate Ray Lund (Thiells, NY/North Rockland) taking second place and Matt Hand (Belmont, NY/Genesee Valley) and Greg Parizek (Hilton, NY/Hilton) finishing fifth and sixth, respectively.

Melissa Scorse (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Mendon) broke the school record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.82 seconds, which was good enough for second place in the event. Shannon O'Keeffe (Boston, NY/Springville-Griffith) took second in the triple jump and Brittany Falcon (Victor, NY/Victor) was second in the long jump and fourth in the triple jump for the Golden Eagles.

Joe Hitchcock (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park) won the high jump, clearing a height of 1.93 meters.
