Melissa Scorse (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Mendon) broke her own school record in the 55-meter dash with a winning time of 7.17 seconds to lead The College at Brockport Women’s Track & Field team at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships Saturday at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts.

The Brockport Women finished in a tie for fourth place by scoring 39 team points. The Golden Eagles were tied with MIT and Ithaca College. Springfield College won the competition with Moravian finishing second and The College of New Jersey taking third. The Brockport Men tied for 16th place with MIT. St. Lawrence University won the men’s team title.

Scorse was not the only school record breaker on the day as Amanda Elias (Belmont, NY/Genesee Valley) established a new school standard in the 800-meter run with her 2:16.80 time, good for a third-place finish in the race. The 4x400-meter relay team also set a new school record, finishing fifth in 3:59.41. The relay squad consisted of Elias, Randi DeBoy (Salamanca, NY/Salamanca), Kaitlin Breed (Manchester, NY/Manchester-Shortsville) and Shannon O’Keeffe (Boston, NY/Springville-Griffith).

O’Keeffe also competed in the long jump on Saturday after placing third in the triple jump Friday with an NCAA automatic-qualifying standard jump of 11.49 meters.

On Saturday, DeBoy scored points for Brockport with a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter dash and Brittany Streeter (Oneida, NY/Oneida) was the second-place finisher in the 3,000-meter run with a career-best time of 10:19.37. The distance medley relay also set a school record for the Golden Eagles with a time of 12:12.33. The relay with Melissa Wassink (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili), DeBoy, Elias and Streeter set the school record in the event and also had a provisional qualifying time for the NCAA Championships.

For the Brockport men Ray Lund (Thiells, NY/North Rockland) took second in the weight throw with a 17.45-meter heave and Dom Gonzalez (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) was fourth in the event with a toss of 16.74 meters.

Junior Cevon Carver (Bronx, NY/Dewitt Clinton) took seventh in the long jump with a 6.52-meter leap.
