Head Coach: Greg Dunne

Greg Dunne completed his second year as The College at Brockport Men’s Basketball head coach in 2008-09.

Despite a sub .500 record of 14-15 on the season, the Golden Eagles clinched the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championship title for the ninth time in the history of the program and returned to the NCAA Division III tournament for the tenth time.

Brockport posted a 7-9 SUNYAC record and won four consecutive games at the end of the regular season to qualify for the SUNYAC Tournament as the No. 8 seed.

The Golden Eagles upset No. 1 Geneseo in the first round before defeating Oswego in the semifinals and won the NCAA automatic bid with a 64-79 victory over SUNY Fredonia in the championship game. At the NCAA tournament, Brockport forced two overtime periods before falling 75-70 to Carnegie Mellon University in the first round. Senior guard Mychal Wilkes was the lone Golden Eagle to be named a First-Team All- Conference selection.

Dunne, who joined the coaching staff as an assistant in 1999, had been the lead assistant coach for The College at Brockport program for eight seasons before taking over the head coaching position for the 2007-08 season, and has helped develop the Golden Eagles into a perennial power in the New York region. Brockport has advanced to the NCAA Tournament five times in the last nine seasons including a trip to the Elite Eight in 2006-07 with a sectional victory at St. Lawrence University and a Sweet 16 win at St. John Fisher College.

In his first season on the bench in 2007-08, Dunne led the Golden Eagles to a 21-8 overall record, the most wins by a first year head coach at Brockport, and led the team to the ECAC Upstate NY Tournament Championship. His 14-2 SUNYAC record was also tops among first-year head coaches at Brockport. Under his tutelage, both Sherod Harris and Brandon Williams earned D3hoops.com First-Team All-East Region honorees. Both Harris and Williams were selected to the First-Team All-SUNYAC team and Wilkes was named to the All-SUNYAC as a Third-team selection.

The 1999 graduate of Nazareth was a four-year starter for the Golden Flyers and is still the all-time assist leader for Nazareth. He was voted the Empire 8 Conference Player of the Year and was a Second-Team National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-American as a senior. For his accomplishments at Nazareth, the College inducted him into the Athletic Hall of Fame on April 18th, 2008.

He is currently a key account manager at PICS Telecom Corporation in Rochester and resides in Brighton.
