Senior Mychal Wilkes (Newark, NY/Newark) became the newest member of the 1,000-point club at The College at Brockport as he led the Golden Eagles with 18 points in a 103-70 victory over SUNY New Paltz Saturday in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game at Tuttle North Gymnasium in Brockport.

Wilkes led Brockport (6-11 overall, 2-6 SUNYAC) with his 18 points, which included the 1,000th for his career. The senior guard's milestone came in the first half on a three-point basket with 8:51 left in the half which gave the Golden Eagles a 33-28 lead. The basket came in the midst of a 9-0 Brockport run that pushed the Golden Eagle lead to double digits. Brockport continued its run and led by 17 points, 55-38, at the halftime intermission. Brockport connected on 75 percent of its shots from the field in the first half and was 7-of-9 from three-point range.

After New Paltz (7-11, 4-5) scored the first basket of the second half, Brockport extended the lead with an 11-1 run and had a 41-point lead with 5:49 left to play.

Wilkes led five players into double-figure scoring with Jermaine Johnson (Queens Bridge, NY/Long Island City) adding 17, freshman Gerald Williams (Rochester, NY/Charlotte) chipping in 15, Bobby Brooks (Oneida, NY/Oneida) scoring 12, Eamon Kays (Mexico, NY/Mexico) 11 and Joe Clarke (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) 10 for the Golden Eagles.
