Senior Mychal Wilkes (Newark, NY/Newark) scored 15 points while fellow seniors Joe Clarke (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) added 11 and Shawn Harris (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) added 10 points off the bench, but The College at Brockport Men’s Basketball team missed its final seven shots of the game as Buffalo State scored a 74-65 victory over the Golden Eagles Tuesday night in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game at the Tuttle North Gymnasium in Brockport.

Brockport (7-14 overall, 3-9 SUNYAC) played a very tight game in the first half with 11 ties and several lead changes in the opening 20 minutes of action. Buffalo State (11-9, 8-4) held a 39-36 lead at the halftime intermission.

In the second half, the Bengals opened up an eight-point advantage in the first three minutes of play but Brockport chipped away at the lead and trailed by a single point at 58-57 with 7:32 remaining. Buffalo State used an 8-1 run to regain control before Brockport closed to within two points at 67-65 on a Wilkes jumper from the right side of the lane with 2:49 to play. From that point, Brockport was outscored 7-0 for the final margin.

After connecting on 40 percent of its shots from the field in the first half, Brockport fell to a 28% shooting clip in the final 20 minutes of play. The Brockport defense forced 24 turnovers including 14 in the first half.

Wilkes led the way with his 15 points while Clarke scored 11 and Harris added 10 for the Golden Eagles. Ian Mack (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) had five assists and three steals while Clarke and Eamon Kays (Mexico, NY/Mexico) each grabbed seven rebounds.
