Senior Mychal Wilkes (Newark, NY/Newark) scored a game-high 23 points as The College at Brockport Men’s Basketball team connected on 14 three-point baskets and defeated SUNY Potsdam by an 85-53 score Friday night in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game at the Tuttle North Gymnasium in Brockport.

Brockport (8-14 overall, 4-9 SUNYAC) built a 22-point lead in the first half on the strength of 11 long-range shots and never looked back. The Golden Eagles led by as many as 33 points in the second half to cruise to the victory. Brockport hit over 50 percent of their shots from beyond the three-point line with Wilkes connecting on 5-of-7 to lead the way. The senior had 19 first-half points and also had two steals which put him in a tie for fifth place on the career steals list at Brockport at 181 with Stan Van Gundy.

The Brockport defense forced 27 turnovers and finished with 14 steals. Jermaine Johnson (Queens Bridge, NY/Long Island City) and Andy Marchand (Rochester, NY/CG Finney) each came off the bench to score 11 points while senior Eamon Kays (Mexico, NY/Mexico) led the way with six rebounds.

The Golden Eagles hit 30-of-60 shots from the field and 14-of-27 from beyond the three-point arc. Potsdam (10-12, 7-6) was limited to 37% shooting from the field and 5-of-15 (33.3%) from outside the three-point arc.
