Senior Mychal Wilkes (Newark, NY/Newark) scored 20 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead The College at Brockport Men’s Basketball team to an 86-81 victory over SUNY Geneseo Saturday night in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game at the Tuttle North Gymnasium in Brockport. The win moved Brockport into the eighth and final seed in the SUNYAC Tournament, where the Golden Eagles will once again square off against Geneseo.

The quarterfinal matchup will be played at 7 pm Tuesday night at Geneseo, as the Knights claimed the tournament's top seed -- by virtue of a four-way tiebreaker -- despite the loss. The playoff game will mark the fourth time the two local rivals will have met this season, with Geneseo gaining one-point victories in the Chase Tournament and the first SUNYAC matchup at Geneseo, both of which were played in January.

Brockport (11-14 overall, 7-9 SUNYAC) opened up a 12-point lead in the first half but Geneseo (17-8, 11-5) cut the lead and trailed by three points at 36-33 at halftime.

In the second half, the game stayed close and Geneseo trailed by three at 63-60 with 7:50 remaining before the Golden Eagles went on a 10-1 run to take control of the game. The Golden Eagles maintained the double-digit lead until the closing seconds of the game.

Wilkes led the team with 20 points while Jermaine Johnson (Queens Bridge, NY/Long Island City) and Ian Mack (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) each scored 12 and Shawn Harris (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) added 11. Mack had six assists for the Golden Eagles.
