The College at Brockport Men’s Basketball team earned the No. 8 seed in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament and will travel to Geneseo to face top-seeded SUNY Geneseo at 7 pm Tuesday, February 24 in the opening round of the tournament.

Brockport (11-14) and Geneseo (17-8) have faced each other three times in the 2008-09 season with the Knights winning the first two meetings and the Golden Eagles taking the third meeting this past Saturday in the regular season finale. Geneseo won the first two games by a total of three points with a two-point win in the first round of the JP Morgan/Chase Scholarship Basketball Tournament and a one-point victory in early February in a SUNYAC game in Geneseo. On Saturday night, Brockport scored an 86-81 victory in Tuttle North.

Despite the geographic proximity, the two teams have met just three times in the SUNYAC Tournament with Brockport winning two of the three meetings. The Golden Eagles won a 91-61 victory in 1958-59, lost a 62-53 decision in 1997-98 and won a 67-61 victory in 2000-01.

Mychal Wilkes (Newark, NY/Newark) is the statistical leader for the Golden Eagles with 14.5 points per game and a team-leading 45 steals. He has connected on 60 3-pointers which is more than twice the number of any other Golden Eagles player. He is averaging 18.3 points per game in the three matchups with the Knights.

The game will be broadcast on WYSL Radio at 1040 on the AM dial.
